According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Israel’s Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu will seek to ban Muslim call to prayer also during daytime, part of an escalating competition for the rightwing and illegal settler extremist vote with Education Minister Naftali Bennett..
Netanyahu feels that the illegal ‘outpost’ ‘legalization’ bill is a victory foremost for Bennett, so he seeks to use the ‘Muezzin bill’ to achieve a personal victory over Bennett in the contest for the extremist vote.
This competition between Netanyahu and Bennett is driving Israel’s regime to ever more extreme positions towards occupied Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line.
Currently extremists in Israel can throw any proposal, no matter how damaging, to the regime and either of the competing men will pick it up to gain a supposed advantage over the other.
