Among several Israeli occupation attacks on besieged Gaza’s fishermen on Tuesday, February 21st, five fishermen from the al-Shati refugee were detained 3 nautical miles off al-Sudaniyya and one of them was shot in waist.
The incident began as Israel’s navy gunboats attacked a group of Palestinian fishing boats and then surrounded and concentrated their attack on one of the fishing boats belonging to Sabri Mohammed Sa’id Baker/Bakr(56).
After the shooting stopped, the Israeli attackers ordered fishermen to take off their clothes, jump in water and swim to the gunboat. They were detained and their boat confiscated. One of the five fishermen was just 17.
After reaching Ashdod port, the wounded fisherman Muhammad Imran Sabri Bakr(23) was taken to a hospital in ethnically cleansed Ashkelon.
He was released an hour after midnight on the next day and taken to al-Shifa hospital in besieged Gaza. In a brief interview he said his wounds were there considered to be ‘moderate’, but another source claims that he would be in a ‘critical condition’.
The former source seems clearly to be the correct one. The second one was based on second hand information through his family.
