Israel’s occupation forces destroyed a house, according to one source one was still being built but according to another a finished one, in occupied East Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina on Tuesday July 4th, claiming that it was ‘build without permit’ from the Israeli occupation.
Only 7 % of building permits in the so-called ‘United Jerusalem’ are given to the over 300 000 Palestinians living under Israel’s rule.
The destruction of homes is forbidden by international law. According to the Fourth Geneva Convention:
“Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.”
