IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY July 5th 2017: President Abbas Meets New French President Macron in Paris

Palestine’s president Mahmoud Abbas(82) arrived to France late on Tuesday from Ethiopia’s Addis Abeba, where he had addressed African Union meeting.
On Wednesday July 6th he met the new French president Emmanuel Macron(39), who has previously said that he will refuse to recognize Palestine, both to keep up a good relationship with Israel and because recognizing Palestine ‘would create instability’ according to him.
Macron has also announced his support for the continued criminalisation of boycotting illegal Israeli colony products.
On Wednesday Macron ran through the usual script about two state solution, lamenting Israel’s illegal colony building but going through the usual litany of any peace agreement having to support ‘Israel’s legitimacy and security’.
As a concrete achievement what president Abbas has with him when he departs for Tunisia is an agreement to establish a French school in the occupied West Bank’s Ramallah.
