Those who oppose BDS, in Israel and abroad, have come to use Israel’s claim of Jewishness as a ‘carte blanché’ – utter it and criticism must end.
If criticism of Israel’s activities continue, then the claim of ‘hating Jews’ is brought out to bear on the critic.
That is what is being used against Boycott Israel -campaign and the BDS movement – its endlessly repeated, in the belief that it will make BDS ‘toxic’ and will brainwash the larger public to believe that any criticism of Israel, any opposition to its negative activities is not about those activities, but only about opposing Jews and Judaism.
WE BELIEVE IN JUSTICE
The supporters of Israeli occupation, the opponents of BDS are living in a world of their own making where everybody carries ethnic-religious labels and where judging the actions of both governments and individuals is based solely on the ethnic-religious labels they claim or are made to carry in the eyes of these ‘friends of Israel’.
BDS is not about ‘hating Jews’. It’s about opposing oppression through civil action when governments fail their duty to end injustice
We who support BDS don’t think that Israel = Jews. We don’t believe that any ethnic-religious labels put on states, any ideology they claim should bring immunity from criticism or international law nor do we believe that they should single any state out based on them.
Because we don’t believe in ethnic-religious labels. We believe in justice, we believe in the necessity of people being allowed to live free in their own land, we believe in equality in both law and practice and we believe in ending the living death of being buried alive in the refugee camps.
WE WON’T GIVE UP
Israel as a state will have to stand without using Jews and Judaism as a shield. Israel will have to accept that it will be criticized, that it will be boycotted until it will end the occupation, until it will give equality to all its citizens and accept justice being done to the refugees.
We won’t give up, we won’t give onto racism because we are better than the ‘friends of Israel’ and we will defeat the propaganda of the supporters of the Israeli occupation and we will win because justice and facts are both on our sides and because we – unlike the currents leaders of Israel and their supporters – we listen to our conscience.
To those who claim they oppose the occupation yet oppose BDS also, we say: If you want to end the BDS, end the occupation, inequality and exile that Israel has brought upon the Palestinians. When they end, BDS will end.
