ISRAEL KILLS 15-YEAR-OLD IN AN ATTACK ON THE DEFENDERS OF JABAL AL-‘ARMA

A child was killed and up to 115 others were injured, three of them critically, when Israel’s occupation forces attacked local people defending the Jabal al-‘Arma mountain from takeover by illegal Israeli settlers on Wednesday March 11th.Hamayel-678x455

Israel’s occupation forces arrived at dawn to the mountain to support the illegal settlers and attacked the defenders with both live and rubber-coated steel bullets, sonic grenades and tear-gas, launched both from armoured vehicles and a drone.

15-year-old Mohammad Abdul-Karim Hamayel was shot in head with a live bullet, according to some reports with a banned expanding bullet. The shooting was captured on video from a distance of a few dozen meters. He was taken to the Rafidia hospital in Nablus where he succumbed to his wounds.

ES09a5gXkAEEMxXThree other people, including a 17-year-old teenager, were shot in head with rubber-coated steel bullets, suffering critical injuries. The teenager, who was shot twice, and another person suffering from bleeding in the brain, are both in a life-threatening condition. The third person’s condition has stabilized.

43_0_15_11_3_20201A total of 112 people suffered injuries, 18 of them from being shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and 90 from inhaling tear-gas. There are reports of Israel’s occupation forces and illegal settlers hampering the operation of ambulances.

STRATEGIC MOUNTAIN

Jabal al-‘Arma is situated near the small town of Beita, south of the city of Nablus. It has an archaeological record of human habitation going back at least to the Bronze Age.

ESzyhRaXQAAcntKIllegal Israeli settlers have made three attempts to capture the mountain, strategically important because of its springs and cisterns. The first attempt on February 28th and a second one on March 2nd led to hundreds of people being injured.

Illegal Israeli settlers made a third attempt during the Tuesday – Wednesday night and were resisted by hundreds of locals who rushed to the mountain. The settlers want to establish an illegal colony outpost to the mountain to control the water, and to make it a tourist site for their fellow illegal settlers.

MINOR DIES AFTER CLASHES BETWEEN PALESTINIAN SECURITY FORCES AND ‘GUNMEN’

ERIUc51X0AAxhXc17-year-old boy died on Wednesday February 19th, a day after he was shot in chest during clashes between Palestinian Authority security forces and ‘gunmen’ in the town of Qabatiya in the Jenin district of the occupied West Bank.

Security forces on Tuesday February 18th had moved to disperse a reception for political prisoner Ali Tayseer Ali Zakarneh, who was being released by Israeli occupation after 20 months imprisonment.

It has been claimed that former political prisoners had been shooting in the air and the security forces had moved to stop this, but the Hamas movement has taken advantage of the events, and claimed that the security forces’ action reflected their continuing security co-operation with the Israeli occupation.

The attempt to disperse the crowd led to clashes, and at some point to exchange of gunfire with ‘gunmen’ that the sources don’t directly identify, but which we hazard to guess could be al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade members based on the location and later ERIpaKFWoAAZsvfappearance of armed men in the boy’s funeral.

At least four people were wounded. The number of injured security forces’ members in sources differ from one – said to have been injured after being hit in his neck with a stick – to 15. Most suffered injuries from shrapnel, but one person – who in some sources is identified as Muntasser Zakarneh but also given different last names in others – was shot in foot, beyond the boy who was fatally shot.

ERHkvK9X0AAy4XKThis was 17-year-old Salah al-Din Muhammad Zakarneh, who was shot in chest, suffering critical injuries, and died of his wounds on the next day in hospital.

His family has publicly blamed security forces and Akram Rajoub, the governor of Jenin, for his death, which led to protests on Wednesday, including blocking of roads.

Based on the careful reaction of the authorities – president Abbas called the boy’s father, an official investigation committee was set up on the day of his death by the prime minister – they seem to agree, although warn people against believing and spreading ‘rumours’.

ERJjy1eX0AAw3SWWhen Salah al-Din Zakarneh was buried, there were present armed, masked men who escorted and carried his body part of the way. This time the security forces stayed away.

ISRAEL CRITICALLY WOUNDS A SMALL CHILD IN OCCUPIED EAST JERUSALEM

A small boy was shot and critically wounded by Israel’s occupation forces in the occupied East Jerusalem on the afternoon of Saturday February 15th.

EQ0qaJOW4AAnAogMalik Issa – aged 7, 8 or 9 according to different reports – was shot with a rubber-coated steel bullet when he exited a store in the Issawiyah neighbourhood, which has been under heavy Israeli occupation aggression since late last summer.

The boy had went to the store with his sisters after they had returned from a school. The situation in Issawiyah has been described as calm when they came off a bus, but the time they left the store Israeli occupation forces had just started a raid during which they abducted one person and fired rubber-coated steel bullets.

EQ0qaKGW4AAMfiBAccording to some sources, Malik Issa’s wounds indicate that he would have been shot from a relatively short range. The bullet hit him in between the eyes.

Malik was transported eventually to a hospital in West Jerusalem where he was diagnosed as suffering from a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage. It is expected that he will lose his left eye if he survives.

ISRAEL KILLS 16-YEAR-OLD WITH A BULLET TO HIS HEART

Israel’s occupation forces killed an underage teen in the city of Hebron on the occupied West Bank on Wednesday February 5th.EQBTtfDWoAIYTtf

16-year-old Mohammed Salman al-Haddad was shot by Israeli occupation soldiers positioned at the entrance to the Al-Shuhada Street during clashes between the occupation troops and a small number of youths in the Bab al-Zawiyeh area of the city.

Such clashes have been ongoing daily at Bab al-Zawiyeh (where the Palestinian Authority and Israeli occupation controlled parts of Hebron meet) since the unveiling of Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century”.

Mohammed was carried away by his comrades and taken to a hospital in a civilian car. He arrived to the hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead soon after.EQBWKjgWsAAe682 The bullet had hit him in heart.

Mohammed al-Haddad’s funeral took place in the early evening and the participants in the funeral procession from the hospital first to his family home and then to a mosque and the graveyard were harassed by Israeli occupation forces.

Most press reports give Mohammed al-Haddad’s age as 17, but this is not correct. His identity card was posted on social media and it shows that his date of birth was March 31st 2003.

CHILD SHOT IN HEAD BY ISRAELI OCCUPATION REMAINS IN CRITICAL CONDITION

A child wounded in head by Israeli occupation troops on Thursday January 30th remained in a critical condition in hospital on Saturday February 5th.EPj3LSsXUAES1lS

15-year-old Mohammad Mohannad Shteiwi was shot in head with a rubber-coated steel bullet by an Israeli occupation forces’ soldier during a demonstration against Donald Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century’ plan at Kafr Qaddum village on the occupied West Bank.

The protest took place near a gate closing the main road from the village to the nearby main towns. The road has been closed by the occupation since 2003 and is the location of the weekly Friday demonstration in the village.

Protesters burned tires and threw stones, while Israel’s occupation forces attacked them with rubber-coated steel bullets, sponge bullets and tear-gas. Israeli occupation forces are said to have attempted to ambush protesters at the nearby olive grove and to have stormed the village itself.unnamed

The bullet hit Mohammad Shteiwi on the right side of his head, penetrated his skull and settled in his brain, leading to a critical injury. He received first aid on site, with a photograph showing massive bleeding.

Because of the Israeli occupation closure of the main road, it should have taken half an hour longer than necessary for the teenager to arrive in a hospital. Previously several deaths have been attributed to the delayed access to hospital care.

תמונה-עקומהBut as was revealed by an article on February 7th in +972mag, this time it took even longer to get help: Israeli occupation police officer stopped the car in which Mohammad was being transported to a hospital and forced it to be driven to a nearby illegal colony, where which he was given no first aid. Instead the police officer called a Palestinian ambulance, which took 25 more minutes to arrive.

A trip to hospital that should have taken as little as 15 minutes ended up taking over an hour. From the moment he was shot to his arrival to a hospital in Nablus it took a total of one-and-a-half hours.

006 (1)After being moved to a hospital in ethnically cleansed Palestine 1948 the next night, and going through surgery, with the bullet removed in operation on Tuesday February 4th, Mohammad Shteiwi remained in critical condition in a hospital Intensive Care Unit on Wednesday February 5th. His father Muhannad told then that Mohammad was unable to speak but was able to move his fingers when he hold his son’s hand.

On July 12th 10-year-old Abdulrahman Yasser Shteiwi was shot in head by Israeli occupation soldier during Kafr Qaddum’s weekly Friday protest – in which the he didn’t take part – leaving him with what now seem to be permanent, severe brain damage.

CHILD WOUNDED BY ISRAELI OCCUPATION DIES IN BESIEGED GAZA

A Palestinian child has died from injuries he suffered when he was wounded by Israel’s occupation forces during the Great Return March last year.

Alaa Hani Hamada al-Abbasi died on the morning of Friday January 31st in a besieged Gaza Strip hospital, where he had remained in coma after being wounded on October 14th.4aba0048a97a8c37c2ae2c42a6864b02

He was taking part in the 78th Great Return March demonstration east of Khan Younis in the southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip when he was hit in head by a tear-gas grenade launched by Israeli occupation soldiers.

When he was injured, early reports gave his age as 13. Today reports give his age as 15. Based on the unity of reports today from different sources, we assume that his age at death was 15. He might have been 14 when wounded.

Alaa’s funeral took place on the Friday afternoon. He is the sixth Palestinian killed during 2020 by the Israeli occupation.EPnTwPbXsAEs5HY

16-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN BESIEGED GAZA BY ISRAEL’S OCCUPATION FORCES

Israel’s occupation forces killed an underage boy in the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday November 29th.

16-year-old Fahd Mohammed Walid al-Astal was killed and five other people were wounded as Israel’s occupation forces’ soldiers fired at a group of people near a Great Return March camp east of Khan Younis in the occupied West Bank.ca5f3dcc60b2c183ffe6c1aa83f2f3bd

Fahd was shot in his abdomen and was announced dead on arrival to hospital. According to one report he was killed ‘instantly’, but because of the nature of the injury this sounds unlikely; another source’s claim that he died ‘shortly after’ having been shot seems more believable.

The incident took place not in the context of a regular Friday Great Return March demonstration, but as an impromptu protest by its participants.

The official Great Return March demonstrations were cancelled for a third consecutive week, because organizers suspected that Israeli occupation would even more keenly than usual seek to kill Palestinians, as a result of the domestic political situation in Israel, where more shedding of blood could benefit Benyamin Netanyahu’s efforts to stay in power.

ISRAEL RETURNS THE BODY OF A MINOR YEAR AFTER KILLING HIM

On Wednesday October 23rd Israel’s occupation forces returned the body of Imad Shahin(17) which had been kept by Israeli occupation for almost a year.

The teenager had been shot, possibly in a foot, after he and a couple of friends had either approached or crossed the border between ethnically cleansed Palestine 1948 and the besieged Gaza Strip on Saturday November 3rd 2018 east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp.EHjU_vPW4AEM2nz

After he had been shot, Shahin was arrested by Israeli occupation forces and taken to the Soroka Medical Center in the ethnically cleansed city of Beersheba. His death was announced the next day, Sunday November 4th.

Imad Shahin’s body was brought back via the Erez crossing and his funeral took place later on Wednesday in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp, situated in the central part of the tiny coastal enclave, where he had lived.

ISRAEL KILLS YOUNG WOMAN AT QALANDIYA

Israel’s occupation forces killed a young woman at the Qalandiya checkpoint between occupied East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank on the morning of Wednesday September 18th, a day after an underage teenager was shot and critically wounded on West Bank.

QALANDIYA

The site of Wednesday’s incident is northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, at the main crossing between it and occupied West Bank in Qalandiya. EEvKk7bWsAAXRfI

28-year-old Alaa Nafeth Wahdan from the Qalandiya refugee camp was shot by Israel’s occupation forces and left to bleed to death after she would have allegedly refused to san order from the occupation forces to stop and would have ‘pulled a knife’. In some Israeli media sources it was also claimed that she would have ‘tried to stab’.

EExIuGEX4AAY11mIn a video capturing her shooting and its immediate aftermath she stands five to six meters away from a group of men armed with automatic rifles when she is shot. No effort to give immediate first aid is made, although she is bleeding profusely. According to Palestinian press sources, medical personnel was not allowed to reach her.

A claim that she would have been alive when taken to a hospital in West Jerusalem, where she would have later died has been contested; according to more recent reports she was immediately announced dead on arrival to a hospital.  An unconfirmed report says she was shot in leg. Considering that it was a fatal wound, it’s likely she was hit in an artery.

In similar manner in earlier reports her age was erroneously given as 50 or 51. At that point her name was yet to be announced.EEuoYATWsAIoYQV

The exact identity of the men who shot her is unclear; although claimed to be ‘Israeli police’ and ‘Israeli soldiers’ in most sources, they could be private security guards, who have killed people in Qalandiya before – Israel having outsourced parts of the occupation, with Israeli occupation forces claiming it lacks jurisdiction to prosecute the security guards in such cases.

It appears Wahdan was on a lane intended for cars, not pedestrians, as although one source claims she was on the pedestrian walkway, a video showing her shooting appears to have been filmed from inside of a car. EEu4VvbWwAMGDN_

Most people shot at Qalandiya in similar circumstances have been pedestrians who have ended up on a wrong lane, the arrangement at the checkpoint claimed to be confusing to people who don’t know it well.

Claim of a shot person having a knife has been made in most of the fatal and non-fatal shootings, but proven wrong. In this case Israeli occupation forces’ member is seen on video kicking something away from Wahdan after she has collapsed on the ground, and Israeli occupation forces’ spread a photograph of a small, bloody knife – apparently covered in her own blood.

AL MAZRA’A AL-GHARBIYA

Underage teenager Karim Nawara was shot in chest and critically wounded in the village of al-Mazra’a al-Gharbiya, north of the city of Ramallah, on the occupied West Bank on Tuesday September 17th. EEvcRvzXYAEAqjL

Different sources give his age as 13 or 16.

Karim was wounded during a joint attack against the village by Israel’s occupation soldiers and illegal Israeli settlers, and it’s unknown whether he was shot by an occupation soldier or an illegal settler, although most sources mention the former.

EEraIptXoAAZW4VIn the Tuesday evening his condition in hospital in Ramallah was described as ‘very critical’

GAZA: UP TO 96 PEOPLE WOUNDED BY ISRAEL DURING THE 74TH GREAT RETURN MARCH DEMONSTRATION

On Friday September 13th Israel’s occupation forces wounded up to 96 people during the 74th Great Return March demonstration in the besieged Gaza Strip when it was held along the border with the ethnically cleansed Palestine 1948.

Most sources reported 74-75 people being wounded, after early reports told of 55 wounded, but the reliable al-Mezan Center for Human Rights gave the number of people who had been wounded as 96. This might reflect it reporting later and thus perhaps having a more comprehensive information of the number of injuries.

EEXWrsyWwAAlAOJPalestine Center for Human Rights(PCHR), whose numbers usually correlate well with al Mezan, gave the number of wounded as 75. It gave the number of wounded minors as 34 and the number of those shot with live bullets as 35, while al-Mezan’s equivalent numbers are 37 and 34. Al-Mezan gave the number of critically wounded as 2 (reporting their condition as ‘extremely critical’) while PCHR reported that 3 people were seriously wounded. WAFA News Agency’ article agrees with the latter number.

EEXWrs4WwAEspNIPHCR reported that 27 people were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and 13 were directly hit by tear-gas grenades; equivalent numbers are not available from al-Mezan at this point. WAFA News Agency gave the same number for people shot with rubber-coated steel bullets while it reported that the number of people shot with live ammunition is 31.

Information on specific victims from PHCR:
– Ahmed Naji Sa’ed Abu Qamar(17) was shot in head with a live bullet east of Rafah in the southern part of Gaza. His condition has been described as ‘very serious’. It’s not totally sure. but likely, that he is the same person as an underage individual shot in Rafah who was reported as being in ‘extremely critical condition’.
– Freelance journalist Zakaria Rawhi Bkair(24), from the al-Maghazi refugee camp, was shot in his left hand with a rubber-coated steel bullet east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central part of Gaza. EEWtj4CX4AYa3bA
– Ahmed Mahmoud Abdul Men’em Manoun(21) was shot with a live bullet in his left leg northeast of the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern part of the tiny coastal enclave. He is described as having suffered severe injuries, including to both bones and tendons.
