ISRAEL KILLS 15-YEAR-OLD IN AN ATTACK ON THE DEFENDERS OF JABAL AL-‘ARMA

A child was killed and up to 115 others were injured, three of them critically, when Israel’s occupation forces attacked local people defending the Jabal al-‘Arma mountain from takeover by illegal Israeli settlers on Wednesday March 11th.Hamayel-678x455

Israel’s occupation forces arrived at dawn to the mountain to support the illegal settlers and attacked the defenders with both live and rubber-coated steel bullets, sonic grenades and tear-gas, launched both from armoured vehicles and a drone.

15-year-old Mohammad Abdul-Karim Hamayel was shot in head with a live bullet, according to some reports with a banned expanding bullet. The shooting was captured on video from a distance of a few dozen meters. He was taken to the Rafidia hospital in Nablus where he succumbed to his wounds.

ES09a5gXkAEEMxXThree other people, including a 17-year-old teenager, were shot in head with rubber-coated steel bullets, suffering critical injuries. The teenager, who was shot twice, and another person suffering from bleeding in the brain, are both in a life-threatening condition. The third person’s condition has stabilized.

43_0_15_11_3_20201A total of 112 people suffered injuries, 18 of them from being shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and 90 from inhaling tear-gas. There are reports of Israel’s occupation forces and illegal settlers hampering the operation of ambulances.

STRATEGIC MOUNTAIN

Jabal al-‘Arma is situated near the small town of Beita, south of the city of Nablus. It has an archaeological record of human habitation going back at least to the Bronze Age.

ESzyhRaXQAAcntKIllegal Israeli settlers have made three attempts to capture the mountain, strategically important because of its springs and cisterns. The first attempt on February 28th and a second one on March 2nd led to hundreds of people being injured.

Illegal Israeli settlers made a third attempt during the Tuesday – Wednesday night and were resisted by hundreds of locals who rushed to the mountain. The settlers want to establish an illegal colony outpost to the mountain to control the water, and to make it a tourist site for their fellow illegal settlers.

DOZENS INJURED IN ISRAELI OCCUPATION ATTACK TO MAKE WAY FOR ILLEGAL SETTLERS

ER3iI1CXsAAmb2_On Friday February 28th Israel’s occupation forces injured up to 134 Palestinians in an effort to gain illegal Israeli settlers’ control of a strategic mountain and its springs.

After public calls by illegal Israeli settlers to establish an illegal colony outpost on the Jabal al-‘Arma mountain, near the village of Beita south of the city of Nablus, hundreds of villagers from Beita and the neighbouring areas gathered on the mountain late on Thursday and stayed there over the night.

ER3iJCxXYAIuVtqOn Friday Israeli occupation forces attacked the demonstrators to make way for the illegal settlers, injuring up to 134 people. The occupation troops removed a flagpole and a large flag of Palestine raised there,  and forced the demonstrators to leave the mountain.

A 16-year-old child was shot in the back with a live bullet, one person was wounded in the head by a tear-gas grenade and another in thigh, while two people were shot in head with rubber-coated steel bullets.

Altogether at least 53 people were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and at least 76 others suffered from ill effects f1d90a9467a1f04397e08b2f9724c32789708b1427b13801c1e412a01d7bec12of inhaling tear-gas. Among those wounded by the rubber-coated steel bullets was a one photojournalist.

One person suffered fractures and bruises when he fell while trying to avoid Israeli occupation forces’ fire. There is also a report about a person being beaten by Israeli occupation troops and suffering similar injuries, but these might refer to the same person.

Israeli occupation forces declared the mountain ‘a closed military zone’ afterwards for 24 hours so that Palestinians could not defend it from the illegal settlers, who have tried to take over the mountain and its springs before.

NETANYAHU CELEBRATES, GIVES HIS APPROVAL TO IBRAHIMI MOSQUE MASSACRE ON ITS ANNIVERSARY

Israel’s prime minister Benyamin Netanyahu made an extremely provocative (and deliberate) visit to the Ibrahimi mosque in occupied West Bank’s Hebron today Tuesday February 25th.

THE IBRAHIMI MOSQUE MASSACRE

26 years ago to the day, illegal American settler Baruch Goldstein(1956-1993), a follower of his fellow
ERlBu3xU0AEnI0GAmerican extremist Meir Kahane(1932-1990), killed 29 and wounded 150 Palestinians in the Ibrahimi mosque.

Israel’s occupation forces killed 21 other Palestinians, who protested the massacre, before the day had ended.

Goldstein himself was killed by his surviving victims when he run out of ammunition. He was buried in the illegal colony oF Kiryat Arba in Hebron, his sumptuous grave becoming a shrine for the illegal Israeli settlers.

Very different treatment from Israel’s regime than his remains would have reserved if he would have been a Palestinian, destined to be hidden in one Israel’s “Cemeteries of Numbers”.

NETANYAHU GIVES HIS OWN PERSONAL SEAL OF APPROVAL

ERnsfSPXkAE_h15Today Israel’s prime minister Benyamin Netanyahu visited the Ibrahimi mosque with his wife and illegal Israeli settler leaders, giving his personal seal of approval on the massacre on its anniversary.

It was a message on which kind of government and policies illegal Israeli settlers can expect, if he wins the Knesset elections in March, third within the year.

It was also a message what illegal Israeli settlers can do when he is in power: To follow ERnscmAWoAAMbJdthe ‘example’ of Goldstein.

Likud, Netanyahu told with his visit, is the party of Baruch Goldstein.

SHUHADA STREET

Israeli state gave its seal of approval immediately after the massacre, collectively punishing Palestinians in Hebron for being the victims by closing the main commercial street of the Old City, the Shuhada Street.

It remains closed to this day, a wound in the heart of the city.

This reward did little good for the then Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin(1929-1995). After a public campaign against him by illegal Israeli settlers and Benyamin Netanyahu, he himself in 1995 became a victim of the same movement he had fed only a year earlier.

MINOR DIES AFTER CLASHES BETWEEN PALESTINIAN SECURITY FORCES AND ‘GUNMEN’

ERIUc51X0AAxhXc17-year-old boy died on Wednesday February 19th, a day after he was shot in chest during clashes between Palestinian Authority security forces and ‘gunmen’ in the town of Qabatiya in the Jenin district of the occupied West Bank.

Security forces on Tuesday February 18th had moved to disperse a reception for political prisoner Ali Tayseer Ali Zakarneh, who was being released by Israeli occupation after 20 months imprisonment.

It has been claimed that former political prisoners had been shooting in the air and the security forces had moved to stop this, but the Hamas movement has taken advantage of the events, and claimed that the security forces’ action reflected their continuing security co-operation with the Israeli occupation.

The attempt to disperse the crowd led to clashes, and at some point to exchange of gunfire with ‘gunmen’ that the sources don’t directly identify, but which we hazard to guess could be al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade members based on the location and later ERIpaKFWoAAZsvfappearance of armed men in the boy’s funeral.

At least four people were wounded. The number of injured security forces’ members in sources differ from one – said to have been injured after being hit in his neck with a stick – to 15. Most suffered injuries from shrapnel, but one person – who in some sources is identified as Muntasser Zakarneh but also given different last names in others – was shot in foot, beyond the boy who was fatally shot.

ERHkvK9X0AAy4XKThis was 17-year-old Salah al-Din Muhammad Zakarneh, who was shot in chest, suffering critical injuries, and died of his wounds on the next day in hospital.

His family has publicly blamed security forces and Akram Rajoub, the governor of Jenin, for his death, which led to protests on Wednesday, including blocking of roads.

Based on the careful reaction of the authorities – president Abbas called the boy’s father, an official investigation committee was set up on the day of his death by the prime minister – they seem to agree, although warn people against believing and spreading ‘rumours’.

ERJjy1eX0AAw3SWWhen Salah al-Din Zakarneh was buried, there were present armed, masked men who escorted and carried his body part of the way. This time the security forces stayed away.

RAS KARKAR VICTIM OWNED SECURITY CAMERA THAT CAPTURED 2014 THE NAKBA DAY KILLINGS

On yesterday Monday February 17th Israeli occupation announced that it had found the body of Fakhr Mahmoud Abu Zayed Qart, who it accused of committing a shooting in which an Israeli occupation forces’ soldier was injured on Thursday February 6th.

unnamed (2)
Nadiom Nawara and Mohamed Abu Daher

Today it was revealed that it was Fakhr Qart’s security camera – outside his store in the town of Beitunia – which captured the 2014 Nakba Day shootings of teenagers Nadim Nawara(17) and Mohammed Abu Daher(17) by Israel’s occupation forces.

The Israeli occupation Border Guard member Ben Deri who shot Nawara was later convicted to nine months in prison for shooting him. He had used live bullets without an official order.

The video camera footage played a role in bringing enough publicity for Deri to be charged.

Ben-Deri-screenshot

There were no charges for the killing of Abu Daher.

QUESTIONS

Fakhr Abu Zayed Qart’s body would have laid all the time just one kilometer away from the site of the shooting near the Ramallah district village of Ras Karkar, in an area which offers little cover. According to one report, he would have been shot ten times, but is said to have made his way EQ_ygN6X0AUpjTRon his own to the location where his body was found.

His sons Haytham(19) and Muhammad(16) were kidnapped in an Israeli occupation raid on his home five days before his body was found, so at some point Israeli occupation would have become aware of his identity.

EQ_o74EXYAELoIj
Haytham & Muhammad Aby Zayed Qart

Qart’s car was also taken away by Israeli occupation, which claimed originally that the occupation soldier was shot from a speeding car. Which does not fit the claim of Fakhr Abu Zayed Qart being apparently on foot (assuming that he, dead or dying, would not have been abandoned by a theoretical accomplice).

Faklr Qart, who was aged 51, 52 or 53 according to different sources makes perhaps a somewhat unlikely resistance guerilla.

ISRAEL CLAIMS TO HAVE FOUND THE BODY OF A MAN WHO WOUNDED OCCUPATION SOLDIER

Israeli occupation forces claimed on Monday February 17th that it found the body of a man who would have wounded Israel’s occupation forces’ soldier eleven days earlier.

Israeli occupation soldier was shot and wounded near the village of Ras Karkar and the illegal Israeli colony of Dolev on Thursday February 6th. The occupation soldier was air-EQHZHzEXsAYOcV7lifted by a military helicopter to a hospital in the ethnically cleansed Palestine 1948.

Early Israeli occupation claim was that the occupation soldier would have been shot at from a passing car.

Now Israeli occupation says that body of a man would have been found just one kilometer away from the site of the shooting. US-made M-16 assault rifle and a hand-gun would EQ_Y3q9WsAABoYFhave supposedly been near his body.

The man is said to have been dead at least for several days and Israeli occupation claims now that he was wounded in the incident and made his way to the location in which he was found, perishing there of his injuries.

The dead man has been identified as 51-year-old Fakhr Mahmoud Abu Zayed Qart from the town of Beitunia.

Israeli occupation used a bulldozer to move the body.

EQN732yVUAAqY-qOn Friday February 7th, a day after the shooting, Israeli occupation closed entrance to the village of Ras Karkar as an collective punishment, which is forbidden by the laws of war.

UN PUBLISHES LIST OF COMPANIES PROFITEERING FROM ILLEGAL ISRAELI COLONIES

A major positive development for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign took place on Wednesday February 12th:BDS_Logo

The long-awaited list of companies profiteering from illegal Israeli colonies in Palestine’s occupied East Jerusalem, Gaza Strip, West Bank and Syria’s Golan Heights was finally published by the United Nations Human Rights Office.

We publish the names of all the 112 companies at the end of this article. The list includes 94 Israeli, 6 US, 4 Dutch, 3 British, 3 French, 1 Luxemburgian and 1 Thai companies.

THE PUBLICATION

israel-settlementPublication of the list, created based on the Human Rights Council resolution 31/36 which was adopted on 24 March 2016, had been pushed pack several times under pressure from the United States and Israel.

Behind the publication now is likely the January release of the “Deal of the Century” plan by the US president Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, which calls for the Israeli annexation of all the illegal colonies and creating of a Palestinian bantustan consisting of an archipelago of disconnected pieces of land under Israeli control.

The release was still done with little publicity and appears to be incomplete, as it lists only 112 companies. The list under current High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet’s predecessor Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein had 321 companies, with 206 others then said to be under consideration for inclusion in 2018.

Former Chilean president Bachelet herself made a weak comment that the report “does not provide a legal characterization of the activities in question, or of business enterprises’ involvement in them.”

Palestine’s prime minister Muhammad Shtayyeh welcomed the release of the list, declaring that the State of Palestine would

“…pursue the companies listed in the report legally through international legal institutions and through the courts in their countries for their role in violating human rights, and we will demand compensation for illegally using our occupied lands and for engaging in economic activity in our lands without submitting to Palestinian laws and paying taxes.”

ISRAEL KILLS TEENAGER DURING PROTEST AGAINST TRUMP’S PLAN

Israel’s occupation forces killed a teenager in the northern part of occupied West Bank on Friday February 7th.

EQM3QZxXYAAVA4r19-year-old Bader Nidal Nafla Harha was taking part in a demonstration against Donald Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century’ plan at the illegal Wall near the town of Qaffin in the Tulkarem district when he was shot in neck by Israeli occupation forces’ sniper.

The bullet severed his main carotid artery and he bled to death within minutes. When he arrived to a hospital in the city of Tulkarem there was nothing more to be done than declare him dead.

The shooting took place on the late afternoon and his death was announced just before 6 pm in social media.

unnamed (1)Demonstrations have been taking place at the illegal Wall in Qaffin for days against the plan by US president Trump to continue the Israeli occupation indefinitely under the guise of a plan to establish an ‘independent’ state with 15 % of historic Palestine – with no control over its air-space, borders, foreign relations or territory.

According to Palestinian Red Crescent, over 40 people were wounded by Israel’s occupation forces during protests in Kafr Qaddum, Qafin and Azzun during Friday and 32 others suffered from ill effects of inhaling tear-gas released by the Israeli occupation forces.

ISRAELI OCCUPATION FORCES KILL A POLICE SERGEANT AND A POLICE CADET IN JENIN

Israel’s occupation forces killed two people in the city of Jenin on Thursday February 6th, one of them a police sergeant and the another a teenager, who according to several reports was a police cadet.

THE KILLINGS

EQErI14XsAACb9jIsrael’s occupation forces had invaded Jenin’s al-Basatin neighbourhood before dawn to destroy as an illegal collective punishment the family home of political prisoner Ahmed Jamal Al-Qanaba for a second time.

This led to clashes with protesting youths and Israeli occupation soldiers shot and wounded seven people, among them 18-year-old Yazan Munther Abu Tabikh, who was hit several times in his chest and died of his wounds in EQFKibxU0AUI581hospital soon after.

Israeli occupation excused the killing of the teenager by claiming that he would have been “throwing stones” – but illegal Israeli settlers throw stones every day in the occupied territories without being ever shot by Israeli occupation troops.

For the second killing Israeli occupation has not offered any excuse except a claim that he was “shot under unclear circumstances”:

EQGIbQ8WsAEnLX7Police sergeant Tariq Loay Ahmad Badwan(25) was shot in spine when he was standing inside the entrance to a police station with four other police officers. He was wearing a police uniform when shot.

The shooting was captured by a security camera inside the police station.

After undergoing surgery, that lasted for several hours, in the al-Razi hospital in Jenin Tariq Badwan died of his wounds in the afternoon.

THE VICTIMS

EQHV3WPWoAECB2eYazan Abu Tabikh was a college student and, according to several press sources, a police cadet. There is a photograph of him in a Palestinian Authority uniform. He was possibly a resident of the Jenin refugee camp. All press reports give his age as 19, but on his own social media account he gave his date of birth as 7th March 2001.

Some sources call Tariq Badwan a first lieutenant, but most sources giveEQFkQWiVUAA5e-e his rank as a first sergeant. He was living in the city Qalqilya according to most sources, but one source gives the town of Azzoun as a place of residence.

A Jordanian citizen, he had been born to Palestinian refugee parents in Zarqa governorate northeast of the Jordanian capital Amman and had been working for Palestinian Authority’s police force for four years.

ISRAEL KILLS 16-YEAR-OLD WITH A BULLET TO HIS HEART

Israel’s occupation forces killed an underage teen in the city of Hebron on the occupied West Bank on Wednesday February 5th.EQBTtfDWoAIYTtf

16-year-old Mohammed Salman al-Haddad was shot by Israeli occupation soldiers positioned at the entrance to the Al-Shuhada Street during clashes between the occupation troops and a small number of youths in the Bab al-Zawiyeh area of the city.

Such clashes have been ongoing daily at Bab al-Zawiyeh (where the Palestinian Authority and Israeli occupation controlled parts of Hebron meet) since the unveiling of Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century”.

Mohammed was carried away by his comrades and taken to a hospital in a civilian car. He arrived to the hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead soon after.EQBWKjgWsAAe682 The bullet had hit him in heart.

Mohammed al-Haddad’s funeral took place in the early evening and the participants in the funeral procession from the hospital first to his family home and then to a mosque and the graveyard were harassed by Israeli occupation forces.

Most press reports give Mohammed al-Haddad’s age as 17, but this is not correct. His identity card was posted on social media and it shows that his date of birth was March 31st 2003.
